Communications
The web site has had minimal changes since October. Have assisted some with publicizing the MOGIS conference site. The site management software I had hoped to use lacks maturity and will not work for MGISAC. My staff are looking at a different site management software package at this time.
Data Development
Data Development will hold its semiannual meeting during the GIS conference. In addition to hearing reports from agencies and municipalities represented at the meeting, we will discuss a proposal for flying leaf-off orthoimagery for the state. Ideas include allowing counties or cities to contribute the difference between the state wide resolution (one meter?) and a higher resolution such as 1 foot.

NSGIC
Tony stated that the HS grant language that was crafted by NSGIC and NASCIO was inserted into the current HS grant announcement. Tim Haithcoat was instrumental in helping facilitate this process. The grant is currently open and Tony will forward both the announcement and the language that was inserted to the list server. There has been a lot of activity surrounding the USGS NGPO realignment. USGS has extended the comment period for another 90 days and a number of NSGIC folks are working on the six development teams. Tim is serving in the architecture team and Tony is serving on the governance team. Other activities such as RAMONA and work on the GOS II portal continue to move forward. The Midyear will be held March 13-16 in Annapolis. Plans are underway to meet with legislators to discuss geospatial issues. Please contact Tony if you have any questions.
OIT
Gerry Wethington retire November 30, 2004. Bill Perkins is acting CIO. Dan Ross will be new CIO effective January 10.
MO GIS Conference
Conference Chair
Registration for the Conference is available on-line at the Conference website and through links on Mizzou and MSDIS website. Registration forms can also be downloaded from the website. Logistics for the Conference are generally on-track, but there are on-going discussions and refinements at the hotel for session, poster, and vendor room arrangements. Question (Ray Fox): Will there be access to the web, wireless or otherwise? Tony: Ill need to check on that. Question (Sonny Sanders): What are more specific guidelines or thoughts about the difference between tool time sessions and regular lecture sessions, especially as it relates to geodatabases? Tony: Regular sessions must focus on actual application examples in use by an institution or individual real world examples.
Program
Although Steve was not present at the meeting, he gave a handout to Tony Spicci for distribution. Tony led the MGISAC through the handout. The purpose of the handout was to recruit and solidify people who could in-turn recruit Conference speakers. All categories were filled with volunteers. Ray Fox requested that an additional topic category called data collection.
Workshops
Plenty of last-minute cajoling produced eight workshops for MOGIS 05. My thanks to everyone who assisted in securing workshops and the workshop presenters.
Exhibits
Jim Lascala reported that 4 vendors have registered; one of those has paid for a presentation. Tony Spicci added that he has received 3-4 verbal commitments in addition to the currently registered vendors

Mark Duewell reported that the forms to nominate people are available on-line.

MSDIS ActivitiesMark Duewell
Mark Duewell and Ray Fox attended the Tri-Lakes User Group meeting. Conclusions from the meeting include a strong desire, on the part of local government representatives, for GIS information and support. Many attendees requested information about the GTC. There were several comments of support from other MGISAC members, including Jim Lascala and Tom Stokes. Hydrography dataset is up and running. Server has been down several times this last month due to maintenance issues. National Map technical workshop at MCMC in Rolla was excellent in every respect. The workshop was well-attended, even by out-of-state folks. The workshop was also well-attended by USGS management. Attendance at the GTC classes has picked up considerably. Staff are hoping to upgrade the teaching lab withArcView9.0 over Christmas break. The portable training lab, supported in part by the CAP grant, is available for check-out by government and non-profit agencies. Use by for-profit agencies or people is still questionable.
