MSDIS General News
While we weren’t able to deploy it according to our original schedule, MSDIS has published a new story map titled Women’s Role in the Missouri Workforce. The application, which features employment data provided by the Missouri Census Data Center (MCDC), takes a look at how much of the Missouri workforce is female and was originally planned for release during Women’s History Month but was necessarily delayed when the entire world came to an abrupt halt. The application was designed by Mizzou undergrad Abby Hunt and is the first story map developed as a part of the MSDIS internship/independent study program.
Following up from last month, representatives of MSDIS and MCDC were interviewed by Mizzou Arts & Sciences about the KidsCOUNT story map. The interview has not been published yet, but questions centered around the importance of communicating data related to the COVID-19-related vulnerabilities that Missouri’s children face, how the stay-at-home order has changed workflows for MSDIS and MCDC, and how GIS can be used as a tool for information distribution.
