Tim Haithcoat called the meeting to order. A discussion of the March MoGIS conference was then held. Everyone was very pleased with the turnout, participation, plenary speakers, and activity level. Poster boards, room crowding, and expanded vendor area were discussed as needed improvement for next year. Tim Haithcoat then reviewed the current plans for the 1999 and 2000 conferences. The 1999 conference will be held in Columbia at the Holiday Inn Executive Center and Expo Center over March 15 – 17, 1999. Monday March 15 is set for workshops with the main conference following on the 16th and 17th. The 2000 conference will be held in conjunction with the Mid-America regional conference at The Lake of the Ozarks’ Tan-Tar-A Resort, Golf Club, and Spa. The conference will span May 15 – 18, 2000. Monday May 15 is set for workshops with the main conference following.

Tim Haithcoat then called for nominations for chair. Lew Davison withdrew his name due to time considerations. Ron Beck nominated Tony Spicci. This was seconded by Liz Cook. A vote was taken and a unanimous support was given to Tony Spicci being the Chair.

Ryan Burson then gave his review of the past year and stated where we had come from and where we might be headed. He stated that the Committee was making great progress and that MSDIS and the Committee’s activities were having an impact across the state. He hopes that we can continue to make good progress and wished us well as we move into the new year.

Tony Spicci then outlined his ideas for the Committee. First focus was on getting the foundation set for the 1999 conference by making specific conference committee assignments. The various areas for work and assignment that the Committee feels are important are to be sent to Tony prior to the next meeting. Tony Spicci also asked to set the MGISAC meeting dates on a monthly schedule. It was agreed by all that that would simplify the scheduling throughout the year. It was then stated the second Tuesday of each month at 10:00 a.m. would be the date. The June 9th meeting will be hosted by the Missouri Department of Conservation. July is MoDOT, August is NRCS-Lincoln Univ., September is MSDIS-UMC, October is Missouri Highway Patrol-GHQ, and November is Department of Economic Development.

Tony Spicci then asked everyone to forward ideas and tasks for the FY99 MGISAC/MSDIS workplan to him prior to the next meeting. He will pull together the agenda and send it out to everyone via Email.
