LocalGov directory of https://imagery.msdis.missouri.edu/arcgis/rest/ . Big thanks to longtime friend of the clearinghouse, Jeremy Tanz, for making this data available and for his

patience while Tom fretted over FTPs and server migrations.

MSDIS General News

MSDIS Web Presence

Thanks to support from the University of Missouri College of Arts & Science and the Office of Marketing & Communications, MSDIS is now developing a WordPress site to replace the existing msdis.missouri.edu site. The new site will be very similar to the existing site and is primarily intended to serve as a signpost to direct users to our Open Data site. There will be a few small adjustments, though.

In addition to the existing pages currently available on msdis.missouri.edu, we will be adding About MSDIS, MSDIS Training, and News and Events pages. This new site will not have any impact on the MSDIS Open Data site or any of our servers.

MSDIS Socials Media

Your Friendly Neighborhood GIS Data Clearinghouse is proud to announce its triumphant return to the world of social media. You can now follow MSDIS on both Facebook and LinkedIn. In addition to using these platforms to repost monthly updates and celebrate the successes of our student employees, you’ll also find links to purchase your very own MSDIS merch.

State Training

MSDIS continues to play host to state employees looking to sharpen their understanding of ArcGIS Pro and general geospatial concepts.

On 27 May, we hosted our very first Introduction to Spatial Analysis courses. As expected, Katilin Belk did a superb job of rolling out the new material and making it easily accessible for new learners. She also shined in the face of adversity as we experienced several unexpected technical problems resulting from the end of the Spring semester. As with all in-class instruction, we learned a lot from the first run of the new course and Katilin is already hard at work adjusting the content to better meet the needs and expectations of state employees.

The 02 June course was also our first attempt at a combined, all-day course that paired the original. Introduction to ArcGIS Pro and the new Introduction to Spatial Analysis courses together. This longer format has been requested by many previous course attendees. We are still pursuing the Continuing Education credits for course attendees. The next training course, which will be aimed at University of Missouri faculty, staff, and students, is scheduled for 09 June 2026. The next state employee is scheduled for 08 July 2026 and will likely be another

Reference Maps

We have received feedback from two of the school districts from the first round of draft maps. Their comments were in line with expectations, and Casey Hagedorn is already working on accommodating the requests to the best of our abilities.

Treasurer’s report – $33,615.21. $1,699.50 was sent for our NSGIC renewal fee. This is our budget mid cycle so it’s time to have our leadership meeting. Will get to that when Zack returns but a lot may be going on this summer with the new legislation transitioning.

Membership Report– 34 members 0 vacancies 18 quorum. Renewal outreach has taken place. Heard back from several that they wish to continue membership. Only half renew at a time. It is a 2 year cycle.

*Motion made and seconded to add Bartlett & West to membership. Motion passed unanimously.

Committee Reports

Education– Tara has a new research assistant. Connor. Updated story map. Added save the date section. Sep 10 Geo-Resolution. October 22-23 gis day. Button for geoAI symposium. Trying to provide a space to get ideas out there and get abstracts polished for other conferences. Abstract deadline August 1. Ogi gis day November 17th. Still need to get conference dates up. If anyone else has anything to put up let her know. Summer academy has kicked off but if there’s other camps open for registration let her know.

Legislation-sb959 July 12th before it automatically becomes law. Write to the governors office. Tim Taylor is optimistic. What happens next if passed? Will there be a state transition team? Yes. We keep operating as is until that happens. May need to set up 501c6 for the conference to help with the money side. Need to start researching this now.

Marketing– have been trying to fight out what this committee wants to focus on moving forward. Looking to organize October 8th in person in kc. There’s an rsvp form out there so we can get you and any dietary restrictions accounted for. Also putting together travel map. Might be prize for the furthest tragedies. June 23 there’s a geoAI webinar available. Added co chair to help facilitate the gis conference.

Data development– had a cam with modot to start some collaboration. If anyone is interesting interested in lidar reach out. Want to submit one application for the state.

Conference – Currently reviewing logo design. Gave feedback on mock up and should have final soon. Dates are set and contracts are signed. We will be putting together save-the-date material and starting social media outreach.

Liaison Report

NSGIC – We have renewed membership for the year. MO lidar highlight was discussed last meeting. Some updates to MSDIS lidar page. Added chart that explains quality levels. There will be some by laws changes. Special business meeting in July. Typically votes would come back to the council but not this time. If interested in what the changes are get with Kaitlin. Registration will open for mid year soon. Went up $100. Western state caucus taking place at 11. It is open to the public. Trying to get NSGIC calendar updated with what’s a public vs not public event or meeting.

Open Discussion – Zack is in once a week. Reach out to him about being part of the council’s transition meeting.  Esri user conference meet up for anyone going in person.

Adjourned – 10:55am
