Scheduling a meeting for late July or mid-August. If you have policy colleagues make sure they know about and can attend meeting.
GIS TrainingTom Stokes
No report. Question from Jeff S about potential overlap between E&O and T&C subcommittees. Jim L responds that E&O has an outward focus while T&C has a professional focus. Tom S adds that Gerry W is interested in training for individuals similar to the Project Management Institute approach. Request for feedback to Gerry W on the topic. Discussion about URISA “self” certification. Comment from Tim H that there is no mandate for certification, but skills updates and continuing education is a carrot to promote it. Jeff S suggests a code of ethics development rather than certification. David D comments that theSystem Administrators Guild went through the exact same dilemma a few years ago and did develop a certification process.
GIT ArchitectureTim Haithcoat
Having trouble coordinating schedules. No GIT meeting; handling in email instead using flags (review, action, vote) in Subject line.
