  1. Call to Order – Chair

The meeting was called to order by the new MGISAC Chair, Jennifer Bowden at 10:32am.

  1. Approval of Prior Meeting Minutes – Chair

Motion to approve by Tim Donze, second by Chris Barnett, minutes approved by the membership.

 

  1. MGISAC Administration

4.1 OGI Report – Tracy Schloss

Multiple vacancies, starting to fill some; no further questions.

4.2 MSDIS Report – Tom Vought

Good, quiet month – no outages reported, usual influx of updated data. Tom is rotating in to his Summer teaching mode, may be slow to reply to questions, etc.

4.3 Treasurer’s Report – Tim Donze

$22,730.55 – same as last month, no new activity; it is time to look at budget and expenditures – last one was put together in 2017.

Went over the history of budgets and funding/spending; tracking and planning for the future with expenditures (seminars, etc.). Asked for any thoughts or comments; Jennifer asked if any committees had any plans for spending, none reported. Discussion about updating National Geographic traveling maps. Colin Duewell asked if there any estimates on how often the maps are shipped out/used; Tim will have to check back in emails to find out.

Discussion on the maps, MMAssociation, costs of maps.

4.4 Membership Report – Wiley Howell

Wiley spoke about renewal of membership renewal (see email); he ran through the list of upcoming renewals. Wiley made a motion to renew those on the list, seconded by Colin Duewell, motion passed, and renewal letters will go out soon.

5.1 State Plane Coordinate System of 2022 – Ron Heimbaugh and Jess Moss

 

  1. Committee Reports

6.1 Data Development – Buster Schrage

The Emergency Work Group met at the first of June – discussed training on the National Alliance for Public Safety GIS (NAPSG) data collection tool.

The Data Development Group met this past Tuesday, will be meeting with may stakeholders to discuss the aerial mapping project. The potential of a statewide aerial program was discussed, looking at buy-in from others in a meeting next week.

6.2 Education – Laura Estabrooks

Nothing from Laura; Richard Perkins spoke about GIS layers that lay over CPS properties and any help others could provide would be appreciated.

6.3 MOGISCON’21 – Colin Duewell & Melissa Johnson

Registrations are up to 90 attendees so far, and close to 20 registrations for the end-of-conference social. Colin reminded everyone to go back to the Eventbrite site to get the social ticket if they are desired.

The agenda has been finalized, and no more abstracts will be accepted. Melissa did not have any additional feedback or information.

 

  1. Liaison Reports

7.1 MidAmerica GIS Consortium – Steve Marsh

Steve had left the meeting, so Tony Spicci spoke about the MAGIC Conference: To be held April 10-14, 2022 at the Hilton Branson (MO) Convention Center; exhibitor registration is now open, and attendee will open soon.

7.2 National States Geographic Information Council – Tony Spicci

Annual conference is this fall, and will be a hybrid. Tracy Schloss spoke about the Geospatial Maturity Survey and NG911; the survey is due next week.

  1. Open Discussion

Tracy Schloss discussed the Missouri Wayfair legislation; it is expected to pass, and deals with internet sales and sales taxes – has a GIS component/expectation.

Tracy also mentioned that the Missouri Office of Geospatial Information  and Department of Health and Senior Services are being recognized by ESRI with a Special Achievement in GIS award for our work using GIS technologies through the State’s COVID response.

Molly Webb congratulated Tony Spicci on his new Director position with GISCI, and Aaron Addison to UCGIS (University Consortium for GIS).

 

The next MGISAC meeting is July 8th, and there will be no meeting the month of the conference; and future meetings will be hybrid online and in-person.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 11:41am.
